The IT Governance Manager's Role

The Information Technology Governance Manager 
manages all deliverables
of his IT Projects and is in charge of the update of EA referential

The IT Governance responsible defines political recommendations, norms, and standards in the domain of Information System:

  • Define the process and key indicators for IT
  • Definitions of IT politics and standards IT in the domain of :
    • Functional Architecture,
    • Application Architecture
    • Technical or component Architecture
    • IT Infrastructure
  • Maintaining information repository of rules and the documentation of IT Governance
  • Creation and maintenance of Governance documentation
  • Verification of compliance with corporate governance rules in the projects and programs in order to build a sustainable information system, scalable, powerful, modular, reusable, flexible, and easy maintenance.

The IT Governance responsible guarantees consistency of the various components of the information System:

  • Assessment of relevance and coherence
    • Current Systems
    • Projects in relation to the target architecture and existing systems (particularly opportunity studies, requirements definition, architecture choices of functional system);
  • convergence plans of the current to future systems
  • Control and validation of initiatives, business cases and specifications for IT projects

to build a sustainable information system, scalable, high-performance, modular, reusable, flexible and easy maintenance.

The IT Governance responsible defines communication:

  • Awareness of senior management
  • Develop culture
  • Encourage good practice
  • Avoid excesses
  • Training of "Business"entities
  • Advice and assistance to the teams (Business & IT)
  • Promotes, with all users, the rules and the best practices in IT
  • Inform users and suppliers about the rules and the best practices in IT. Organize users and IT service providers trainings
  • Working in close and constant contact with those responsible for the different layer of the architecture and the security architecture to build a new corporate culture in which governance, best practices, architecture and security of the information system are major concerns of various stakeholders.

The IT Governance responsible has a technological and prospective monitoring:

  • Monitoring of regulatory and technical developments in its domain
  • Watch on the developments needed to ensure the coherence of the SI as a whole
  • Study the innovative solutions offered by suppliers in terms of governance, architecture and security
  • Assess the solutions implemented by other European TSOs or elsewhere or in other sectors (banks, telecom, ...)
  • Controlling the impact of these solutions for society to maintain governance of the information system to technological level required by the evolution of the IT market.

Technology watch and forecast:

  • Follow-up of the lawful and technical evolutions of its Domain
  • Mandatory watch to the coherence of IS as a whole
  • control the impact of solutions for the company in order to maintain the governance of the information system at the technological level required by the data-processing market evolution.
